DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF SERBIA
The Democratic Party of Serbia is a political party in the Republic of Serbia that has been functioning for over 30 years.
The political party was founded in 1988 by a splinter nationalist faction of the Democratic Party. The founders of the party are Vojislav Kostunica, Vladeta Jankovic, Djurdje Ninkovic, Drasko Petrovic, Mirko Petrovic and Vladan Batic.
From 1993 to 2014, Vojislav Kostunica led the party in the parliamentary elections. For nine electoral campaigns, the party entered the government coalition three times: 2000-2001, 2003 and 2007. In 2014, the party did not receive representation in parliament. In 2016, Sanda Rashkovich Ivic headed the party in the elections, the party received 6 seats.
In the 2020 elections, the party received about 6% of the votes and could not get parliamentary seats.
The Democratic Party of Serbia from 1992 to 2012 took part in the presidential elections six times. During all this time, the candidate from the party won once - Vojislav Kostunica in 2000.
The post of the President of the Party is occupied by Milos Jovanovic. The Deputy Presidents of the Party are: Dejan Shulik, Predrag Marsenij and Zoran Sandij.
Since 2007, the party has an agreement on interaction and cooperation with the All-Russian political party "United Russia".
