Party of prosperity
The Prosperity Party is a young political party in Ethiopia, founded on December 1, 2019 by Abiy Ahmed to establish political stability in the state.
The origins of the political organization go back to the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (ENRDF).
The Prosperity Party united three political parties of ENRDF: Amhara Democratic Party, Oromo Democratic Party and South Ethiopian People's Democratic Movement. Also, five regional parties have joined the political organization.
The party has not yet taken part in the elections, the first elections for it are to the Ethiopian parliament in 2020.
The party is committed to strengthening a federal system that recognizes regional diversity and the contribution of all Ethiopians to the development of the state.
The post of President of the party is occupied by the Prime Minister of Ethiopia - Abiy Ahmed. The vice-president of the party is the Deputy Prime Minister of Ethiopia - Demeke Mekonnen.
