THE REPUBLICANTS PARTY is a young political party in the French Republic, formed by former French President Nicolas Sarkozy. The history of the party began in 2002 within the framework of the political organization Union for a Popular Movement, which was founded by Jacques Chirac. In 2015, the organization changed its charter and was renamed the Republicans Party. The main initiator of political transformations was the leader of the party, Nicolas Sarkozy. In the parliamentary elections in 2017, the party received only 112 parliamentary mandates out of 577 possible. "Republicans", taking second place, went into opposition to the government. In 2017, François Fillon was chosen as the party's candidate for the presidency of France, who won 20% of the vote and was unable to qualify for the second round of the presidential election. The Chairman of the party is held by a member of the National Assembly - Christian Jacob. A member of the National Assembly, Aurelien Pradier, is the party's General Secretary. The party has a youth political wing - "Young Republicans". The organization implements its own educational school and participates in party activities.
