PHILIPPINE DEMOCRATIC PARTY–PEOPLE'S POWER (PDP-Laban) - the leading political party in the Republic of the Philippines. The party was formed as a result of the merger of the political parties Partido Demokratiko Pilipino and Lakas ng Bayan in 1982 as part of a parliamentary coalition. Four years later, the organizations were legally united into one political party. Since its inception, the party has been a member of eight different parliamentary coalitions: from 1982 to 1986 - UNIDO, 1987 - LABAN, 1992 - Koalisyong Pambansa, 1995 - Lakas-Laban Coalition, 1998 - LAMP, 2001 - PPC, 2007 - KNP, 2013 - Team PNoy, 2016 - Coalition for Change. In the 2016 presidential elections in the Philippines, the party nominated Rodrigo Duterte as a candidate for government office. Duterte won with 39% of the vote. The latest elections (2019) for the lower house of the Philippine parliament ended in victory for the party. 82 seats were obtained, which is 26.97% of the total number of seats in the House of Representatives. The post of the President of the Party is currently held by the Senator of the Philippine Republic - Aquilino Pimentel III. The President of the Party is the President of the Philippine Republic - Rodrigo Duterte. The post of the General Secretary of the Party is occupied by the deputy of the House of Representatives - Pantaleon Alvarez. PDP-Laban has an agreement on interaction and cooperation with the all-Russian political party “United Russia”, concluded in 2017.
