PEOPLE'S PARTY

PEOPLE'S PARTY, NP (People's Party, PP) is a political party in the Kingdom of Spain. The origins of the People's Party go back to the political association Alianza Popular, which emerged in 1976 as part of the unification of various streams of democratic and right-wing reformists. The NP was founded by Manuel Fraga in 1989, who united several political organizations into one new political movement. From 1989 to 2016, the party participated in all nine election campaigns for the Spanish parliament. In four out of eight convocations (in 2015, the parliament was unable to form a government and re-elections were called), the party took the first place and formed the government (1996, 2000, 2011, 2016). In the 2020 elections to the Spanish Congress, the party took second place, receiving 88 out of 350 parliamentary seats. The post of President of the party is held by Pablo Casado. The general secretary of the party is Teodoro Garcia Egea. The party has a youth political wing - "New Generation". Official site of the party:
