PROSPEROUS ARMENIA
THE PROSPEROUS ARMENIA PARTY is the center-right party of the Republic of Armenia, founded by businessman and politician Gagik Tsarukyan in 2004. The number of party members exceeds 370,000. The party's headquarters are located in Yerevan, the capital of the Republic of Armenia.
The leader of the party is its founder, Gagik Tsarukyan. Robert Kocharian also played an important role in the creation of the party.
Economic liberalism, democracy, and social conservatism act as the ideological base of the party.
The goals of the party include: preserving national and traditional values, family, church-state relations as the most important priorities; maintaining strong ties with European partners, strengthening democratic and good-neighborly relations in the Caucasus region, as well as with Moldova, Belarus, Ukraine and Central Asia; rapprochement of Armenia with the European Union, the formation of a civil society; protection of fundamental human rights and freedoms.
In economic policy, the party attaches priority importance to stabilizing fiscal and monetary policies, creating favorable conditions for investments aimed primarily at the development of small and medium-sized businesses. In social policy, the party seeks to reduce the polarization of society, reduce the level of poverty, and provide state assistance to the socially most vulnerable segments of the population.
The most important principles of the party are the principles of freedom, justice, solidarity and patriotism.
At the 4th founding congress of the “Prosperous Armenia” party, statements were adopted on the internal political situation in Armenia and on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
In 2008, the Prosperous Armenia Party and the United Russia Party signed a cooperation agreement.
In 2012, the party became the second after the Republican Party in the elections to the National Assembly, receiving 28 seats (31% of the total number of seats).
Until 2015, instead of Gagik Tsarukyan, Nairu Zohrabyan became the chairman of the party. In 2017, Gagik Tsarukyan was re-elected as party chairman.
In the parliamentary elections, Prosperous Armenia and the Alliance Party created the Tsarukyan bloc, which was also joined by representatives of the Armenian National Movement and the Hayazn Party. In the parliamentary elections, the bloc became the second after the Republican Party.
The party participated in the early elections to the National Assembly in 2018 independently.
In the 2018 parliamentary elections, the party won 26 seats, which is 20% of the total number of seats.
Since the founding of the party, in accordance with the Party's Charter, the PAP Youth Council was formed and launched a wide range of activities, in 2007 reorganized into the “IPA Commission on Sports and Youth Issues”, in 2011 renamed into the IPA Youth Union.
