THE ALLIANCE OF INDEPENDENT SOCIAL DEMOCRATS is a Serbian party operating in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The party was founded in 1996. The party is the ruling party in the Republika Srpska. The number of party members is over 192,700 people. The party's headquarters are located in Banja Luka. The leader of the party is Milorad Dodik, Serbian member of the Presidium of Bosnia and Herzegovina and President of the Republika Srpska. The party's ideology is based on social democracy. The party favors the priority of the confederal form of government. The building of the welfare state is spelled out as the main goals of the party charter; protection of social justice; upholding humanistic ideals. Since 1996, the party has existed under the name of the Party of Independent Social Democrats (PNSD). She was one of the leading socialist parties of the Republika Srpska in the 1990s. In the 1997 elections, the PNSD collaborated with the Serbian National Alliance (SNC) in the Unity coalition. Milorad Dodik was the Prime Minister of the RS in 1998-2001. In 1999, the Social Liberal Party joined the party, after which in 2001 the PNSD merged with the Democratic Socialist Party. In 2002, the New Labor Party joined the PNSD. Since 2002, the party has changed its name to the current one, becoming the Union of Independent Social Democrats. " In the elections to the National Assembly of the Parliament of the Republika Srpska in 2006, the party won 41 seats, which was 50% of the total number of seats. 2008 to 2012 The SNSD was a member of the Socialist International, the worldwide organization of political parties committed to the establishment of democratic socialism. In 2010, in the parliamentary elections of the Republika Srpska, the LMIC won 37 seats (45% of seats). In 2011, SNDS and the United Russia party entered into a cooperation agreement. In the elections to the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska in 2014, the party won 29 seats (35% of the seats). In 2018, in the elections to the Chamber of Deputies, the party won 28 seats, which is 34% of the total number of seats. 1997 - 2000 The SNSD has formed and, over the last four electoral cycles from 2006 to 2020, together with other parties, forms the government in the Republika Srpska. Since 2018, the post of President of the Republika Srpska has been held by a representative of the SNSD, Zeljka Cvijanovic. The youth wing of the party is the Young Social Democrats branch.
