Qingdao expo to facilitate closer cooperation with SCO members

The 2020 Shanghai Cooperation Organization International Investment and Trade Expo will be held from Oct 16 to 18 in Jiaozhou, a county-level city in Qingdao, Shandong province. Jiaozhou is home to the China-SCO Demonstration Zone for Local Economic and Trade Cooperation, which is designed by the central government to facilitate cooperation with SCO member states, foster a better platform for international cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, and develop collaborations in logistics, trade, investment, tourism and culture. The China-SCO demonstration zone is designed to serve the nation and Qingdao's strategies to expand opening-up and international cooperation. [Photo provided to China Daily] The expo is jointly organized by the Qingdao Municipal Government, the China Chamber of International Commerce, and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shandong Sub-council. The event will invite envoys from SCO countries to China, representatives from business associations and well-known Chinese and foreign enterprises, as well as guests from the 10 ASEAN countries, according to the organizers. To date, more than 160 representatives from SCO countries and enterprises have confirmed their attendance, while more than 500 Chinese and foreign enterprises have registered for the expo. Covering an exhibition area of about 14,000 square meters, the expo will display the latest products and cutting-edge technologies of companies in fields such as logistics, energy, finance and trade. An online exhibition, which will focus on the display and promotion of products by foreign enterprises, will also be launched and be used as a medium for investment and trade cooperation among SCO countries. In addition, the China-SCO countries business club will be launched during the expo. This platform will feature exhibitions, marketing, roadshows, negotiations and trade for companies from countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative that are looking to enter the Chinese market, as well as Chinese enterprises seeking opportunities overseas.
